Issuing archive documents

The Population Procedures Department of the Ministry of the Interior issues documents if local government of the county center does not have the possibility to do so. For archived vital statistics documents please turn to local government of the county center, who will transfer the application to the Ministry of the Interior if needed.

Applications can be submitted directly to the Ministry of the Interior by Estonian State Portal or by e-mail or by post (Pikk 61, 15065 TALLINN).

State fees must be paid to the authorities holding the documents before the documents are issued.


State fees for issuing archive documents


  • a duplicate family event certificate: 10 Euros;
  • issuing data extracted from a document kept at a vital statistics office in the form of a notice or certified copy on paper (vital registration record, family register): 10 Euros, electronic 5 Euros.
