1279 births registered in October

According to the data of the Population Facts Department of the Ministry of the Interior, 1279 births were registered in October by the vital statistics offices of Estonia; 671 were boys and 608 were girls. 28 pairs of twins were born in October (9 pairs of boys, 12 pairs of girls and 7 paternal twin pairs), as well as one instance of triplets (girls).
In October, the most popular names given to boys were Nikita, Rasmus, Aleksander/Aleksandr, Artjom, Kevin, Martin, Andreas and Oliver.
The most frequent names for girls were Carolina/Karolina, Anastasia/Anastassia/Anastasija, Carola/Karola, Kristiina/Kristina, Laura, Lisete/Lisette/Lisett and Sandra.
According to the statistics for October of 2006, compiled by the Population Facts Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the births of 499 babies were registered in Tallinn, 153 in Tartumaa, 118 in Ida-Virumaa, 127 in Harjumaa, 60 in Lääne-Virumaa, 75 in Pärnumaa, 30 in Viljandimaa, 29 in Järvamaa, 32 in Võrumaa, 23 in Raplamaa, 23 in Jõgevamaa, 30 in Saaremaa, 28 in Valgamaa, 28 in Põlvamaa, 17 in Läänemaa and 7 in Hiiumaa. 4 babies were stillborn.
438 marriages were registered in October, 20 of them presided over by ministers of religion. The vital statistics offices registered 300 divorces.
102 people were granted new names by a directive of the Minister for Regional Affairs, 14 of whom changed their first names, 77 their surnames and 11 both first names and surnames.
1462 deaths were registered in the population register in October.
In September of 2006, the births of 1237 babies were registered, 657 of them boys and 580 girls.
In October of 2005, 1149 births, 445 marriages, 284 divorces, 61 name changes and 1404 deaths were registered.
