Ministry of Internal Affairs distributes 15 million EEK in support of regional investment

The committee for the support of regional investment formed within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and led by minister Jaan Õunapuu has distributed funds totalling 15.1 million EEK (obtained through revenue from the gambling tax) to 54 projects in this year's second round of applications.
All 15 counties received aid from the resources of the second round of applications. The largest grants were allocated to six projects in Ida-Viru County at 1.86 million kroons, five projects in Harju County at 1.42 million kroons, five projects in Tartu County at 1.37 million kroons, seven projects in Pärnu County at 1.34 million kroons; four projects in Lääne-Viru County at 1.13 million kroons and three projects in Viljandi County at 1.03 million kroons. The amount of support distributed to the remaining counties was between 600,000 and one million kroons.
According to Anne Lindma, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Allocation of Grants for Regional Investments from the Gambling Tax and an adviser with the Department of Regional Development of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a higher than usual number of grant applications and projects were received from schools and kindergartens in the second round of submissions.
Support was allocated to the following schools and kindergartens for building, reconstruction or renovation work:
Harju County: Loksa Kindergarten (250,000 kroons); Maardu Rõõm kindergarten (330,992 kroons)
Hiiumaa: Kõrgessaare municipality Vigri kindergarten (198,892 kroons)
Ida-Viru County: Lad children's daycare centre (348,915 kroons); Jõhvi Youth Centre (316,000 kroons);
Kiviõli Kannike kindergarten (350,000 kroons)
Jõgeva County: Siimusti Kindergarten & Elementary School (350,000 kroons); sports fields in Kaarepere village (279,824 kroons)
Järva County: Albu municipality Ahula Kindergarten & Elementary School (289,442 kroons); Aravete High School (350,000 kroons)
Lääne County: Vormsi Kindergarten (154,000 kroons); Noarootsi Kindergarten (350,000 kroons); Risti Elementary School (303,480 kroons)
Lääne-Viru County: Pajusti Children's Daycare Centre (350,000 kroons); sports field and playground in Laekvere (350,000 kroons)
Pärnu County: Halinga Municipal Kindergarten (240,914 kroons); City of Pärnu Mai kindergarten (336,996 kroons)
Rapla County: Juuru Sinilill kindergarten (290,213 kroons)
Saaremaa: Kuressaare Elementary School (210,567 kroons); Kärla Elementary School (350,000 kroons)
Tartu County: Vara municipality Koosa Kindergarten (350,000 kroons)
Valga County: Tõrva Mõmmik kindergarten (330,000 kroons)
Viljandi County: Lahmuse School (350,000 kroons)
The committee's decisions regarding the 54 projects that were allocated grants in the second round and the ten projects that were not supported will be published on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at http://www.siseministeerium.ee/ under the Local Authorities and Regional Development Section (gambling tax grants for regional investments) once these decisions have been approved by an order of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The third round of applications will have resources approaching 10 million kroons for the division of grants. Guidelines on the submission of applications are available from the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The deadline for the next round of applications is 15 December 2006.
