Minister for Regional Affairs to visit the islands of Northern Estonia

During the visit the Minister for Regional Affairs, Jaan Õunapuu, will discuss with the city mayor of Tallinn, Jüri Ratas, and the rural municipality mayor of Viimsi, Urmas Arumäe, the financing possibilities for the small islands from the regional development programmes for 2007-2013. The better organisation of the transport and electrical connection for the islands and the issues in connection with education, safety and border guarding will also be covered.

On the island of Aegna the Minister for Regional Affairs, Jaan Õunapuu, will examine the situation of the island's water economy and roads and he will also visit the nature house under construction.

On the island of Prangli, the Minister will visit the port of Kelnas, the diesel power station and the shop, the Prangli Community Centre, the school and he will also meet the inhabitants of the island.

On the island of Naissaar the Minister will examine the development of the island and the problems that affect its development.

The Minister for Regional Affairs, Jaan Õunapuu, will be accompanied during the visit by the Deputy Secretary-General for Administration, Merle Küngas, Adviser to the Ministry, Sulev Lääne, Adviser to Minister for Regional Affairs, Merike Metstak, Head of Department of the Local Government and Regional Administration Department, Väino Tõemets, Head of the Command Center of the Boarder Guard Administration, Riho Breivel, and the member of the Tallinn vision council, Sulev Mäeltsemees.
