Estonian border controls temporarily heightened

Press release nr 154

From midnight today, 4 October, until the end of the month controls on Estonia's borders will be heightened to reduce the potential for security risks during the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to the country.

On the order of Interior Minister Kalle Laanet, border guards will be carrying out more detailed checks through the electronic database on every person crossing Estonia's borders.
As heightened controls may lead to delays in crossing borders, the Ministry of the Interior asks that travellers exercise patience and allow for the extra time in planning their journeys.
