1345 births registered in August

According to the data of the Population Facts Department of the Ministry of the Interior, 1345 births were registered in August by the vital statistics offices of Estonia; 696 were boys and 649 were girls. 25 pairs of twins were registered in August (16 pairs of boys, 5 pairs of girls and 4 paternal twin pairs). The most popular names given to boys in August were Marcus / Markkus / Markus, Rasmus, Marten / Martin, Kevin, Sander and Nikita.

The most frequent names given to girls were Liis / Liisa / Liise / Liisi, Eliisabet / Eliisbeth / Elisabet / Elisabeth / Elizabeth, Laura, Maribel / Meribel, Sandra and Anna.

According to the statistics compiled by the Population Facts Department of the Ministry of the Interior for August 2006, the births of 488 babies were registered in Tallinn, 169 in Tartumaa, 128 in Ida-Virumaa, 129 in Harjumaa, 56 in Lääne-Virumaa, 88 in Pärnumaa, 46 in Viljandimaa, 31 in Järvamaa, 34 in Võrumaa, 41 in Raplamaa, 26 in Jõgevamaa, 38 in Saaremaa, 27 in Valgamaa, 21 in Põlvamaa, 20 in Läänemaa and 3 in Hiiumaa. 2 babies were stillborn.

1094 marriages took place in August, 111 of them conducted by ministers of religion. The vital statistics offices registered 302 divorces.

107 people were granted new names by a directive of the Minister for Regional Affairs, 24 of whom changed their first name, 79 their surnames and four both first names and surnames.

1289 deaths were registered in the population register in August.

In July 2006, 1341 births were registered, 697 of them boys and 644 girls.

In August 2005 there were 1302 births, 867 marriages (105 of them by ministers of religion), 288 divorces, 82 name changes and 1415 deaths.
