Regional Minister to become familiarised with projects financed by European Regional Development Funds

Today, August 22, Regional Minister Jaan Õunapuu and the accompanying officials of the Ministry of the Interior are on a working visit in Põlva County and Tartu County for the purpose of obtaining an overview of results of the projects financed by the European Regional Development Funds. "We now have almost ten times the resources for regional development in Estonia that we did prior to joining the European Union," said Regional Minister Jaan Õunapuu, adding that he is glad to see local governments and citizens' associations are very actively involved in preparing projects and developing their respective regions. In Tartu County the Minister and the accompanying officials will become familiarised with the Aviation Museum development project and the Luke Manor complex reconstruction project. In Põlva County they will learn about the Mooste rural municipality's project of reconstructing the Mooste Manor craftsmen's yard and the Põlva Peasantry Museum's project of creating a centre of attraction dedicated to the county's history and culture. These projects have received financial support from the Ministry of the Interior from sub-measure 4.6.2 of the Estonian National Development Plan for the Implementation of the EU Structural Funds, aimed at boosting the regional competitive level. The Regional Minister is accompanied on his visit by Eedi Sepp, Adviser from the Regional Development Department of the Ministry of the Interior, Anne Likold, Chief Specialist from the Regional Development Department, and Virge Maripuu, Senior Specialist from the Regional Development Department. |
